Charles Griner’s 5th great-grandmother Priscilla Burnett of Leys married Samuel Fithian Sr. on March 6th 1679 at Greenwich Presbyterian Church in Greenwich, New Jersey.

  • Priscilla Burnett, was member of the Burnet of Leys@preview family and a great-granddaughter of Alexander Burnett, 11th Laird of Leys and the Hon. Katherine Arbuthnot; she was also a paternal 5th great-grandmother of Charles Berdeaux Griner. Priscilla’s grandfather was Dr. Thomas Burnett Sr. (the 3rd son of Alexander Burnett, 11th Laird of Leys and the Hon. Katherine Arbuthnot of Fiddes), Thomas Burnett Sr. was born at Crathes Castle@preview in Aberdeenshire, Scotland and attended Cambridge University in Cambridge, England, after college he soon became a prominent doctor practicing in Braintree, where he met and married Jane Foys, daughter of John Foys of London, England and they went on to have nine children together (see the records). Alexander Burnett, 11th Laird of Leys and his wife, the Hon. Katherine Arbuthnot were first cousins they were both the great-great-grandchildren of James Hamilton, 1st Lord Hamilton and Princess Mary Stewart of Scotland,@preview later the Countess of Arran and Lady Hamilton. Princess Mary was the eldest daughter of King James II of Scotland@preview and Mary of Guelders@preview. King James II of Scotland was the great-grandson of John of Gaunt, Duke of Lancaster@preview, by his 3rd wife and former mistress Katherine Swynford@preview.
