How to Use the Family Tree
Use the Family Tree to explore relatives visually and open each personβs complete profile.
π³ Navigate the Tree
- Click a personβs name, photograph, or profile card to open that personβs full profile page.
- Select another person in the tree to center the Family Tree on that relative and explore a different branch.
- Follow the connecting lines to see parents, spouses, siblings, and children.
- Use the Relationship tab when you want to calculate how two people are related.
π€ Find Information in a Full Profile
After opening a personβs full profile, use its tabs or sections to locate available information:
- Biography β the personβs life story and historical background.
- Historical Records β original documents and uploaded family records.
- Sources β citations and evidence supporting the profile.
- Gallery β photographs and other images.
- Videos β documentaries, films, or related video material.
- DNA β DNA information when it is available for that person.
Genealogy Symbols
Symbols are centered beneath a personβs birth and death years. A person may display more than one symbol.

- Notable Kin
A historically significant or well-known person. - π
- Royal / Noble House
The individual belonged to a documented royal family or noble house. - π§¬
- DNA Match to Website Owner
This person is a confirmed biological (blood) relative of the website owner. The DNA match alone does not determine whether the person is a direct ancestor or another type of biological relative. - π
- Marriage
Shows a marriage connection between two people in the Family Tree.
π‘ Helpful Tip
The Family Tree is for visual navigation. Detailed research, documents, sources, photographs, videos, and DNA information are located on the personβs full profile.
Relationship Explorer
Discover how people in history are connected.
Getting Started
- Select a person in Person 1.
- Select another person in Person 2.
- Click Find Relationship.
- The Relationship Explorer will calculate and display their relationship.
Explore Further
- Switch to the Family Tree tab to explore ancestors, descendants, spouses, siblings, and children.
- Click any personβs name or profile photo to open their full profile.
In Their Full Profile You Can View
- Biography
- Gallery
- Historical Records
- Videos
- Sources
- DNA information when available
Tips
- The Family Tree is designed for exploring family connections.
- The full profile contains detailed research and documentation.
- A DNA icon indicates confirmed DNA information. Its meaning is explained in the Family Tree ? How to Use guide.
